Home-School Tutoring’s religious education tutors are available for private tuition for students of all ages, whether they would like home tuition in primary level religious education (RE) or for GCSE or A Level Religious Studies (RS). Our religious studies specialists can also provide support for undergraduates studying for degrees in theology and/or religious studies.
Unlocking religious studies for all pupils
As well as helping students to understand the topics and themes of religious studies, our home tutors can help students develop the skills of analytical thinking, critical evaluation and essay writing necessary for success in coursework and exams.
Religious studies enable students to understand the pivotal role of religion in both local and global contexts, and how it defines communities and individuals. Religious education also provides students with the opportunity to explore important questions about the world, its meaning and purpose, and their own place within it.
A well-respected subject
GCSE Religious Studies and A-Level Religious Studies are highly regarded by universities, as a good grade in either or both demonstrates that the student possesses the critical thinking and essay writing skills necessary for study at higher education level.
The skills developed from courses in religious studies also provide solid foundations for careers in teaching, law, business and management, journalism and social, youth, community and advice work.
Despite concerns about the government’s decision to exclude GCSE Religious Studies from the list of GCSE subjects required for the new English Baccalaureate (Ebacc) qualification, the numbers of students sitting GCSE RS exams has continued to rise.
The continued popularity of GCSE Religious Studies has come as welcome news to universities offering degree programmes in Religious Studies, as well as to all who share a passion for the subject.
Exam preparation and ongoing support
Our religious education specialists are familiar with the National Curriculum for religious education teaching in schools as well as with the exam board syllabuses.
Our private tutors can help students with all the topics addressed in GCSE, AS and A Level Religious Studies (e.g. God, death, human relationships), and how different religions approach each topic (including within Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism).
We can also provide private tuition for revision of the entire Religious Studies syllabuses, either prior to exams or as ongoing support throughout the school year.
Stress-free learning
With a private tutor the pupil is in control of the pace of their lesson, and Home-School Tutoring’s religious education tutors always aim to create a non-stressful, supportive learning environment.
