Hi I’m John the area advisor and tutor manager for the Herefordshire area.
Although my own speciality is Maths, I have a team of tutors registered for many other different subjects, levels and learning goals, so between us we are delighted to offer supportive tutoring whatever the need, within the Herefordshire region. For myself, having worked as a Maths teacher for five years, I also continue to work as a personal maths tutor for students across the ability and age range. I am passionate about teaching and learning.
I fully understand that students can find aspects of mathematics daunting and can benefit from one-to-one support in order to achieve their true potential. I believe that a student needs to understand how, why and what they are doing, which can sometimes be overlooked in a busy classroom environment. (And this could be said for any subject and all ages.)
Before teaching, I was a Civil Engineer for 20 years and this industrial experience has been an invaluable asset to my work as a tutor manager and a teacher/tutor. I have young children myself too, which keeps myself and my partner Jenny very much involved in all aspect of primary school learning at its various stages.
I believe that all learning should not just be functional but also creative – and therefore fun!
If you are considering personal tuition for yourself or your child, please do give me a call or email me. We can discuss and help to identify the learning needs or issues, and then recommend to you the most suitable tutor. My team of friendly, experienced tutors welcome the opportunity to provide tutoring for you.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Our Team of tutors is ready to help
We offer all the main school and college subjects and many more besides. Every school year and every term our tutor team grows with more experienced tutors offering to tutor their own specialist subjects and levels for Home-School Tutoring.
This means that we are able to offer an even wider spread of specialist tutors to our clients, although of course some of the most requested subjects are still Maths, English, and Sciences ( Chemistry, Physics and Biology).
There is also growing requests for tutors who are experienced in helping pupils who struggle with their learning and we have some excellent, caring tutors with that speciality.
Whether you are considering taking one of the main core subjects or anything else, please make contact. We always do our very best to help recommend a good and suitable tutor for the specific need requested.
We also now offer Music therapy
We are very pleased to announce that our tutor expertise now extends to providing music therapy – using music and sound to help improve emotional well-being, relieve stress and improve confidence. Music therapy is an extremely effective medium for students with emotional and behavioural difficulties – please contact me to find out more.
Skype mathematics tutoring also offered
We are able to offer A level maths and GCSE maths via Skype. The Skype lessons can be in addition to individual face-to face lessons too if that helps.
Contact John, the Area Advisor via the Enquiry Form or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01600 890338 or 07958 406181.
I am also now proud to announce that we are the preferred supplier of tuition and educational services for the Gloucester and Forest Alternative Provision Schools (GFAPS), helping children unable to attend mainstream as a result of emotional and behavioural difficulties. It is a privilege to be directly helping students who find themselves in this position.
Adults and children – all ages.
It’s never too young to start learning and never too late. We are here to help you.
If you are a tutor reading this section, please apply to register with us by filling in the brief form or making contact.
Testimonials from this Area
Excellent advice and support in finding tutors
“With the daunting task of organising home schooling for my 15yr old son in his GCSE years, I contacted John from Home-School Tutoring. As the Area Advisor for the Gloucester and Hereford region he gave me much needed reassurance and guidance. With years of experience as a teacher himself and an empathetic approach, he was instrumental in finding excellent tutors. John took into account our specific requirements and circumstances, helping to plan an initial timetable and advising on curriculums and exam boards and anything else I wasn’t sure about! I have already recommended John to friends, who have been equally as satisfied and grateful as ourselves for his support.”

Noah has a new enthusiasm for GCSE Maths – thank you!
“We chose John to teach our son GCSE Maths which he has been doing for eight months now. He has a very open, easygoing manner which put Noah at ease from the first tutorial. He took time to get to know Noah’s character, interests and motivations, thereby building a really productive mutual learning environment. John challenges Noah in a non-intimidating and very supportive way, giving him confidence to participate and contribute meaningfully and promoting a real understanding and enthusiasm for the subject. I would highly recommend John to anyone looking for a home tutor in Maths.”
