Our Area Advisor for West Yorkshire is planning to retire after 25 happy years at the helm of Home-School Tutoring in the Leeds and Bradford region. Could you be the one to fill her shoes and take over this thriving business?
Anne-Marie Dunn joined Home-School Tutoring as an associate and area advisor in 1993 while continuing to work part-time as a teacher and tutor. “I remained doing that for the first nine months to give me time to build my business,” says Anne-Marie. “I knew within those months that this was for me. I just loved it. And I was rushed off my feet!”
With her business flourishing, Anne-Marie gave up classroom teaching to focus her energies on her successful tutoring business.
“For me, being an area advisor felt like parents’ evening, which I always enjoyed. You have an opportunity to advise parents on how they can help their children. You can take away their anxiety and offer real reassurance. And I always loved working one to one with children. Tutoring is so therapeutic. If you love what you’re doing it all just slips into place.”
Could you now run Home-School Tutoring West Yorkshire?
It is with sadness that Anne-Marie has decided the time has finally come to retire. “I will miss everything about it,” she says. “I love the business so much that even when I step aside I’m sure I’ll keep talking to my tutors and customers.”
Nonetheless, Anne-Marie would like to sell her business while it is prospering so the new owner can continue to build on her success.
Home-School Tutoring has built a strong reputation among pupils, parents and educators since it was established over 30 years ago. It is the tutoring organisation of choice for many in the West Yorkshire area thanks to Anne-Marie’s passion and diligence.
As well as Leeds and Bradford, this area covers Bingley, Keighley, Morley, Pudsey and Shipley, and the towns and villages in between. To see a full list of towns and postcodes covered visit www.homeschooltutoring.co.uk/location/leeds-bradford/
Key to Home-School Tutoring’s success is our personal approach and rigorous registration procedure. Area Advisors listen to what is needed and ensure all tutors are DBS checked with strong references and are suitably qualified to deliver effective and engaging tuition.
“If you are a good teacher, well organised and confident with a love of education I think you will fit in easily,” says Anne-Marie. “You have plenty of help from Margaret [Home-School Tutoring’s director] and other advisors so you’re not on your own.”
“It’s one step away from the classroom but without the pressure of the classroom. It’s marvellous!”
