Children’s Mental Health Week, which runs from 6th – 12th February 2017, aims to raise awareness of children’s mental health issues and encourage everyone to spread a little kindness.
The initiative has the full support of Home-School Tutoring and all of our tutors are committed to providing patient and supportive tuition to help build children’s confidence and reduce anxiety about school work.
A 2015 study by Stanford University School of Medicine showed how one-to-one maths tuition helped relieve anxiety about doing maths problems. The study, published in The Journal of Neuroscience, found tutoring could resolve abnormal responses in the brain’s fear circuits.
Our tutors can also share many experiences of tutoring greatly reducing stress levels in students.
A personal tutor works at each child’s own pace, providing support tailored to their individual needs. We spend as long as necessary on difficult areas or concepts, while helping pupils to develop transferable study skills and become confident independent learners.
Most importantly, our pupils never feel pressured. Our aim is always to build self-confidence and make learning enjoyable.
Praise for our tutors
Home-School Tutoring’s Area Advisors ask for feedback from all clients and parents. The following was received by Alex Murry-Twinn, the Home-School Tutoring Advisor for Hampshire West & Central at the end of January 2017:
“Fabulous! Fabulous! Fabulous! In such a small time my daughter has gone from hating maths to finally loving it, her words not mine. Katie (the tutor) has been amazing. My daughter’s class teacher has seen a massive improvement in her class work and confidence and this is all down to Katie. I cannot thank you enough! Everyone should have a Katie in their life.”
Just a few days before, the Home-School Tutoring Advisor for Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, Emily Ellen, received this email:
“Andrew is a very conscientious and enthusiastic teacher, I am very pleased with his attention to detail and in how he talks to my daughter. …She really gets on well with him.”
