Hello, my name is Kim Catling. I have been working within the education system for the last 12 years; 8 of which were spent as a teacher of English at Huxlow Science College in Irthlingborough and for the last 5 years I have been the Northamptonshire Area Advisor of Home-School Tutoring. I actually worked with the Staffordshire branch of Home-School Tutoring in 2001 after I graduated from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. I tutored a number of students and caught the teaching bug, so I then went on to do my Post Graduate Certificate in Education at Keele University in Staffordshire and the rest, as they say, is history.
My own personal teaching experience is within Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 but GCSE is the bit I enjoy the most, whether as an intervention tutor in a school or as a home tutor. I am incredibly proud of my students year on year because when they realise that English is nothing to be feared, you start to see them shine.
I am always looking to register the best tutors who will deliver tailored tuition in their own specialist level or subject. We need tutors for ages, levels and subjects; tutors who aim for a consistently high standard and will support students with enthusiasm and encouragement. Maths, English and Science are always very popular subjects and I need good people to coax the most reluctant of students into achieving and succeeding – this is by far the most rewarding aspect of teaching and tutoring.
I look forward to hearing from tutors who would like to join our register in the area and also look forward to helping pupils and students in this region, in whatever subject or level you need help. I am a mum myself to a 5 year old and a 2 year old, and as a parents we all want the best for our children.
Please complete the enquiry form on this page, providing as much detail as possible, or call or email me.
Best wishes,
Kim H. Catling
