At Home-School Tutoring, we help pupils fulfil their potential with patient and effective tuition that is tailored to the individual’s unique needs.
The following success stories show how three very different pupils turned frustration into success with the support of a tutor.
From Ds to an A in English
Our first story concerns S, who is now studying for A Levels in our West and Southwest London area. S was getting Ds in GCSE English so her mum contacted us for support. English tutor Julie assessed S as capable of a B and began weekly lessons to improve her confidence and understanding. During this time her level gradually increased until she finished the year getting an A* in Literature and an A in Language. As she has already submitted controlled assessments in Year 10, her awarded grades were A in Literature and B in Language, with which she was delighted, having been told to expect a D.
Back on track with SEN support
In our Northamptonshire Area, our tutor Mel worked with a child with Asperger syndrome and behavioural issues, who was refusing to go to school. Mel utilised her background in social work to help get this student back into the school system and back on track with their education.
Re-marking help from an Area Advisor
In the same area, Area Advisor Kim helped a pupil get a paper re-marked after a B grade was awarded. A further 11 points were then given, pushing the grade up from a B to an A.
