Please make contact as soon as possible with John, contact details above.

John Lewis is our Home-School Tutoring Advisor for Gloucestershire and the Cotswold area including Gloucester itself, Cheltenham , Stow, Stroud, Cirencester, Tewkesbury, Cinderford and all local towns and villages throughout the county.

Home-School Tutoring offers experienced tutors who understand the schooling system in the Gloucestershire area and we welcome opportunities to support you with our tutoring whatever the subject or learning need. Please be assured that all our tutors are DBS checked.

We tutor students of all ages and of all abilities, in state or independent sectors and also those who have home schooling.   Our desire is to build confidence in our pupils and help children, young people and adults to achieve their potential. We especially understand the importance of good grades in Maths and English.   We know also that many parents hope for their children to achieve places at a Gloucestershire grammar school and later, to apply to a good university   Equally, we love to help pupils who struggle with their learning; we aim to help them progress and to enjoy learning and achieve their best. Whatever the subject or level, we will endeavour to find a tutor for your needs.

If you’re looking for a tutor, please tell me about your requirements using the Tutoring Enquiry form. It helps if you give as much detail as you can, so that I can assess what you are wanting and offer you the best recommendation from our team of local tutors.

Home-School Tutoring is building a new Area presence in the Gloucester (Glos.) county this year and so we especially welcome enquiries from qualified teachers, graduates or experienced tutors living in all areas here. We have been receiving an unprecedented number of enquiries recently, particularly for English, Maths and Science and therefore there is an immediate need for qualified teachers/tutors with this expertise.

If you are interested in becoming a tutor with Home-School Tutoring, I invite you to register with us using the Become a Tutor form. Tutors working in association with us are covered by our Professional Indemnity Insurance

Although we’re particularly looking for tutors who can teach Maths, English or Science, we also welcome tutors in any subject. We are very keen to hear from tutors who can offer special needs or dyslexia help, KS2 or KS3, GCSE and A Levels, and also those who specialise in Eleven Plus.

Find out more about me on the Area Advisor Details tab. The Areas I cover are shown on the Areas Covered tab.

John is our Home School Tutoring Area Advisor for Herefordshire and Gloucestershire. He is passionate about teaching and learning and has worked as a Mathematics teacher at a secondary school for five years as well as having experience of working as a personal tutor for students across the age and ability range.

John will be pleased to run this Area of Home-School Tutoring to assist pupils of all ages to achieve more understanding and success in their learning. All subjects, levels and ages are covered. More teachers and tutors are always needed to join the register of available tutors in this area.

John’s own speciality is Mathematics and as well as running this Area of Home-School Tutoring to provide help for all subjects, he will continue to tutor Mathematics himself when he is able. He understands that students can find aspects of Mathematics daunting and that at times they can benefit from one to one support in order to achieve their true potential. He believes that a student needs to understand how and why and what they are doing and this can sometimes be overlooked in a classroom environment. This could be true in any subject.

One to one tutoring, including ICT support where appropriate, can aid student understanding and help to boost confidence in the subject. Furthermore, John believes that all learning should not just be functional but also creative, and therefore fun.

Prior to teaching, John was a Civil Engineer for 20 years and this industrial experience has been an invaluable asset to his approach. He is a very approachable and understanding teacher and manager.

John loves family life with his partner, Jenny, and his two young children.
He enjoys running and keep fit and is also passionate about electronic music.

If you are considering personal tuition for yourself or your child, please give John a call. He will discuss and help to identify the learning needs or issues, then he will recommend to you the most suitable tutor.

John would like to stress that he welcomes enquiries from tutors who are graduates or have qualified teacher status, in any subject, who would like to join the team of Herefordshire/Gloucestershire tutors.

Each Home-School Tutoring Area seeks experienced, qualified teachers and graduates who can be available as tutors. Enjoy seeing your pupils develop confidence and make progress.

We aim for high standards

As a self-employed tutor you are rewarded well for your tuition both in terms of remuneration and in satisfaction. You are valued by our organisation and by your clients.

We particularly need more primary school teachers for special educational needs and basic numeracy and literacy and more teachers of Mathematics, English and Sciences at GCSE and Advanced Level but ALL tutors are welcome. Do join us!
